The Russian Club Studios, 340–344 Kingsland Road, London, E8 4DA

The Club Room was founded in April 2009 with the inaugural Club Room Members Show. The Club Room is the physical manifestation of some of the ideals behind The Russian Club Gallery, a non-commercial venture that was started in July 2008 by Matt Golden and then joined by Nat Breitenstein and Jennie Hancock.

The premise of The Club Room holds the artists themselves and the artistic community at it’s centre. Membership is a way of forming an association with the gallery that is not based on representation in the traditional sense but rather is an affiliation to a creative hub that aims to give opportunities (ie exhibitions, web page, project proposals etc) and support (sharing skills, design, photography, contacts etc). To a certain extent it is up to each individual member how much they want to give/take from the affiliation – some members have existing relationships/representation from other galleries but may enjoy the possibilities opened up by a broad artistic community or being able to experiment and explore work in a way they don’t in their existing frame work.

What’s in it for the gallery? The opportunity to work with artists who’s work we hold in high regard, sharing and acting on ideas that are discovered and develop through conversation when several minds / ideas / talents are better than one.

If you work like to work with or comission one of our members please get in contact; or if you'd like to be considered as a member and if you'd like to join the mailing list to be kept up-to-date with events...
